Description
Beautifully-preserved Bausch & Lomb Optical microscope, made in Rochester, NY, dated 1936, according to serial number. Excellent cosmetic condition, with just a few light blemishes. Comes with the original 3 objective lenses ... 97X, 43X, and 10X. These are oil immersion lenses ... requiring oil (not included) for optimal performance. This is a HEAVY item - 11 pounds, with a cast iron base and frame, and machined brass slide plate surface and adjusters. This is an extremely well-made item, probably very expensive when first made. The operation of the machined gears is smooth, with zero play. Also note the glossy paint on the part where it says "Bausch & Lomb" - I have never seen a paint job hold up this well, and I've dealt in all sorts of vintage gear for 23 years. It looks like it's waxed or something, but it's not.I have personally used this microscope, and can confirm it works properly. As far as I know, the only thing missing is the mirror which provides the light source (slides into socket near base). I used an LED light instead, and it worked fine.
Note the beautiful aperture for adjusting light intensity (video included which shows operation).
