    Description

    Unique and whimsical Asian antique hand-carved soapstone lidded water buffalo teapot.  It appears unused except possibly for display but is a functional teapot, with the buffalo's tail as handle and his mouth as the pouring spout.  The lid "handle" is actually the seated rider reading from an open book on lap, with hat pushed back behind head.  Teapot is sturdy, 5-1/2" long x 3-1/2" high x 3" wide, with a smooth finish, stylized cross designs on sides in a warm beige tone.  Rare and wonderful collectible.
