Description

This is a unique piece that is very rare and hard to find. The history of it as I know is that it had been in an antique shop in Puerto Rico since the 1980s. Before that it spent many decades (back to the early 1900s) in use at a university in Chile.  Leitz? I don't know.
I have had it looked at by microtome experts who say it is a rare and unique piece that looks to be from the late 1800s, perhaps 1890.  Unfortunately any plate that details the maker is gone. Additionally, as you can see, it is missing the top sliding piece of the slicer.
If it were intact, it would be worth thousands, but since it is not, I am selling it for what I believe is a pretty fair price as just this main base makes a beautiful piece for a display to show of the lovely workmanship.
