This lovely, 1880's day time ensemble was handmade specifically for a
competition
fashion show.
All
entrants were given a mystery box of fabric, and asked to create anything that they wished, using all of the fabric.
This is a polonaise with walking skirt, matching hat, and bag.
It was created using "Past Patterns" # 904 in a size 12-14.
The costume is a dark green poly blend fabric. The skirt has a 3" floral print waist band in the front, and 2 rows of light green scalloped trim at the bottom.
The Polonaise, or fitted over dress, is accented with pink lace at the chest, and on the sleeve ruffles. It has 9 buttons, 3 panels, and is gathered on either side of the hips, with a pleat in the back.
The skirt is different than the one shown on the pattern, because there wasn't enough fabric to make a full skirt. The skirt is not full enough to take a bustle.

The top has a 36-38" bust, shoulder measurement-16".

Machine wash with like colors, dry in a cool dryer.
