Original World War Two Legion of Merit Allen M. Traster U.S. Army Air Corps!!!
I am inferring the service in the army air corp from his grave marker showing reserve air force and WWII legion of merit. I have not been able to find war records but am still looking.
I have confirmed this medal by the attached grave marker picture. Traster went on to serve after the war in the Air force reserves to the rank of colonel. The grave marker shows the initials "LM" after his name designating Legion of Merit. I have sent a request for information to a legion of merit site but only have small hopes for a real response. The opportunity to finish the research will be half the reward for owning this.
Was he flying a B-17 dropping bombs over Germany or launching off a carrier deck in the pacific fighting zeros? That part of the story is left to be discovered.
This medal is ready for the most particular collector, a center piece medal!!!
