    Description

    This is a United States Navy World War II, Named Good Conduct medal group.  The group includes the American campaign medal with the original crimp brooch and original ribbon drape.  The planchet is in very good condition; the EAME campaign medal with the original crimp brooch and original ribbon drape.  The planchet is in excellent condition; the Asiatic-Pacific campaign medal with the original crimp brooch and original ribbon drape.  The planchet is in excellent condition; the American Defense Service medal with the original slot brooch and original ribbon drape.  The planchet is in very good condition; the Navy Good Conduct medal with the original slot brooch, original ribbon drape and original bottom ribbon holder.  The planchet is in excellent condition, with no edge knocks and the reverse is officially impressed "VITO/JOHN/AUKSTIKALNIS/1944"; and the World War II Victory medal that has the original slot brooch and original ribbon drape.  The planchet is in excellent condition.
    This medal group was awarded and issued to Machinist's Mate 2nd Class (MM2c)
    Vito John Aukstikalnis
    .  Mr. Aukstikalnis first enlisted with the Navy on October 27, 1941, at Boston, MA.  He served in all three campaigns and was honorably discharged at the US Naval Hospital, in Asbury Park, NJ, for a "in the line of duty" injury, on November 30, 1945.  He died in South Boston, MA, on July 18, 2011, and is buried at the New Calvary Cemetery, in Mattapan, MA.
