    Description

This is a United States Navy Boxed set of a Good Conduct medal group.  The set includes the unboxed Good Conduct medal that has the original slot type brooch, what looks like the original ribbon drape, with SECOND AWARD slip on bar, and the original bottom ribbon holder.  The planchet is in excellent condition with no edge knocks.  The reverse is officially impressed "LOUIS/A./LAZO/1945".  Included in the set is the blue cardboard boxed WW2 Victory medal.  The medal has the original slot type brooch, original ribbon drape and comes with a pin-back ribbon bar.  The planchet is in excellent condition, and the original tagged and dated (6/14/46) box still has the onion skin packing paper.  The group includes the boxed American Campaign medal, which has the original crimp brooch and ribbon drape.  The planchet is in excellent condition and the U.S. Navy tagged box still has the original onion skin packing paper, from the US Mint.  Includes the U.S. Navy Occupation Service medal, which has the original crimp brooch and original ribbon drape.  The planchet is in excellent condition, and it comes in the original "OCCUPATION" embossed blue cardboard box of issue, including the onion skin packing paper.   The set includes the United Nations Service medal for Korea, which comes with the original crimp brooch and ribbon drape.  It includes a pin-back ribbon bar and the tagged box still has the onion skin packing paper.  It appears that all of the boxed medals were never removed from the boxes or worn on the uniform (other than the Good Conduct medal), as the boxes all look in very good to excellent condition.
This group of medals were awarded and issued to Chief Pharmacist's Mate (PhMC, later Chief Hospital Corpsman)
    Louis Armour Lazo
.  Mr. Lazo was born in Key West, Florida, on May 31, 1924.  He joined the Navy on September 18, 1942, at Miami, FL.  He served honorably until August 3, 1964, when he was transferred to the Fleet Reserves, making him both a WW2 and Korean war veteran.  He died on October 16, 2001, at Lake Placid, FL, and is buried at the Lakeview Memorial Gardens, at Avon Park, FL.
I will include an 8 page copy of his FOIA military records from the St. Louis archives (not all shown in the auction), and copy of his gravesite locator from the VA.  I should note that he was also awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign medal, the Korean Service medal, the China Service medal and the National Defense Service medal, but if issued, the whereabouts of those medals is unknown.
