    Description

    This is a United States Navy Good Conduct medal group to an Aviation Machinist Mate first class (AMM1c).  The group contains the American Defense Service medal that has the original slot type brooch, original ribbon drape and the original pin-back ribbon bar.  The planchet is in excellent condition:  included is the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign medal, that has the original crimp type brooch, original ribbon drape, and the original pin-back ribbon bar.  The planchet is in excellent condition; includes the American Campaign medal that has the original crimp brooch, original ribbon drape and the original pin-back ribbon bar; includes the WW2 Victory medal that has the original slot type brooch, original ribbon drape and original pin-back ribbon bar.  The planchet is in excellent condition; includes the US Navy Good Conduct medal that has the original slot type brooch, original ribbon drape, and original bottom ribbon holder.  The planchet is in excellent condition with no edge knocks.  The reverse is officially impressed "JACK/CLIFFORD/GILPATRICK/1944";  includes a dated "1943" basketball sports award medal with original pin-back brooch and original ribbon drape.  The reverse of the planchet is hallmarked 10c/G.F.  The group also includes his navy dogtag that has his fingerprint etched on one side with "J.C./GILPATRICK/2-25-22/10-1-40/413-52-01/1-42 "O"/USNR" etched on the other side.  The group also includes a US Naval Reserve Honorable Discharge lapel pin, a ruptured duck honorable service lapel pin, and a two ribbon bar with the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign ribbon and two bronze campaign stars and an American Campaign bar, both have been cellophaned covered.  The group also contains a CPO bullion ratings pouch, two cloth name tags, one cloth ruptured duck insignia, three cloth single ratings/rank chevrons, two cloth triple ratings/rank chevrons, and two first class cloth insignia.
    This group was awarded and issued to Aviation Machinist Mate 1st Class
    Jack Clifford Gilpatrick
    .  Mr. Gilpatrick was born in Los Angeles, CA, on February 25, 1922.  He first joined the Navy on September 14, 1940 at Oakland, CA, and was trained as an Aviation Machinist Mate, assigned to Fleet Airship Wing 31, and later to Blimp Headquarters Squadron 3, at Moffett Field, CA.  He was honorably discharged on 23 October, 1945.   He died on March 23, 1965, at Peralta Hospital, in Oakland, CA.
