Description
This is a very nice WWII 325th Glider Infantry Regiment (GIR) grouping. The 325th GIR served with the 82nd Airborne Division during World War II.This grouping includes the following:
- Glider wings (marked Sterling on back)
- 325th GIR oval patch
- Combat Infantryman Badge (marked Sterling on back; missing clutches)
- English-made (Wolf Brown Co) 2-place ribbon bar (Purple Heart with oak leaf cluster and Good Conduct)
- English-made 3-place ribbon bar (American Service Defense, American Campaign, and European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign with arrowhead, silver campaign star, and bronze campaign star)
- 82nd Airborne Division patch with rocker tab
- Overseas service patch (6 bars denoting 3 years of overseas service)
- 1 original photo of troopers posing next to a glider
- 1 original newspaper clipping about D-Day
- 5 painted handkerchiefs commemorating various locations that the veteran presumably visited during his time overseas
Unfortunately, I do not know the name of the veteran that these items belonged to. Please note that the riker case/mount shown in the pictures is not included with the grouping. Overall, the items are in good, used condition. They show signs of wear. Please see pictures to judge the condition of these items. This grouping would make an excellent addition to any World War II collection. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for looking.
